Matrix Energia, founded in 2014, is a privately held Brazilian company operating as an integrated energy solutions platform, with a presence in both the Free Contracting Environment (ACL) and the Regulated Contracting Environment (ACR). Its main shareholders are the Swiss group Duferco and the Brazilian asset manager Prisma Capital. The company’s activities cover energy trading, renewable generation (distributed and centralized), battery energy storage systems (BESS), cogeneration, and natural gas. In the trading segment, the company manages a portfolio of more than 4,000 consumer units in the ACL, representing a 3% share of the free market. In retail, it holds a 10% share, with a portfolio of 171 average MW. In distributed generation, Matrix Energia is expected to reach 500 MWac of installed capacity by the end of 2025, including 120 MWp of its own assets, serving approximately 36,000 members. In centralized generation, it is building its first solar plant (103 MWp / 80 MWac), scheduled to start operations in October 2025, and holds 1.3 GW of shovel-ready solar and wind projects. In storage, the company has 70 MWh installed and 160 MWh contracted, projecting 244 MWh by the end of 2025. A highlight is the project developed with the São Paulo City Hall for the electrification of the bus fleet, using ultrafast charging and BESS technology. In natural gas, operations began in 2024, with 24 million m³/month traded by June 2025, including the first tripartite contract between Brazil, Bolivia, and Argentina.
